A beautiful foot is as important as a beautiful face. No one wants their feet to look dull and dead.
However dry and scaly feet are quite common which is being faced by most of the people.
As such, feet are abused on a regular basis due to the pressure of walking and being exposed to the other elements.
However you can remove dead skin from feet by taking a few measures.
Use Pumice Stone to remove dead skin from feet
Step 1: Before going to bed soak your feet for 20 minutes in warm water to soften the dead skin.
Step 2: Using pumice stone gently scrub the dead skin on your feet in back and forth motions in order to remove dead skin from feet.
If you have a lot of dead skin then it cannot be removed in a day.
Repeat the process the next day again for removing the dead skin from feet. Scrub the feet gently without causing much pain to your feet.
Step 3: Under cool running water rinse the dead skin off your feet.
Step 4: Wash the pumice stone under cool running water in order to rinse the dead skin off the stone and keep it in an airy place for drying it.
Step 5: Dry your feet with a clean towel.
Step 6: Massage your feet with a quality amount of foot cream. Make sure that the foot cream is a good one and recommended by proper medical association.
Rub your fingers around your feet in a circulation motion so as to rub the cream in a proper way and to promote blood circulation which is very important for curing the dead skins.
Step 7: After massaging your feet put on a pair of socks to hold the moisture till morning and you will see your feet are smoother than before.
Carry on this process for a few days in order to get rid of the dead and dry skin off your feet.
Use Epsom Salt
Step 1: Before soaking your feet in Epsom salt bath wash your feet in warm water using a mild soap to remove the excess dirt off your feet.
Use a mild soap in order to avoid irritation that can happen on your skin.
Step 2: While washing be sure to wash your feet properly especially in between toes, around ankles and on top of your feet.
Step 3: Dry your feet with a clean towel as it is necessary before you start exfoliating your feet.
Step 4: Now fill the foot bath with the hottest water that you can tolerate without blistering your feet. Don’t fill the foot bath fully with water keep some space so that not much water gets spilled out when you put your feet in it.
Check the water quantity properly before putting the Epsom salt so that you don’t waste any salt.
Step 5: The amount of Epsom salt needed to mix in the water depends on the volume of water being taken. For a standard foot bath half a cup of Epsom salt is enough.
Step 6: Now put your feet in the foot bath carefully so that the water is not spilling out of the foot bath.
Once you have dipped your feet in the water gently move them so that the salt gets mixed with the water.
Step 7: Soak your feet in the water for 10-15 minutes. After this time you will see that the dead skin flakes on our feet are softer than before and they are ready for exfoliating.
Step 8: Make a paste by adding a handful of Epsom salt with a small amount of hot water.
Massage the paste on your feet and around your toes and scrub for a few minutes. This will help to remove dead skin from feet.
Step 9: After massaging the Epsom salt paste put your feet back into the foot bath and rinse off the paste.
Step 10: Take your feet out of the tub and without drying it rub the wet pumice stone gently on the callused parts for approximately 2-3 minutes to remove dead skin from feet.
If you don’t have a pumice stone, a foot file can also be used but make sure that you don’t rub the feet to hard or it can lead to irritation or infection.
Step 11: Rinse your feet properly in clean lukewarm water so that the remaining dead skin can get washed off from your feet.
Step 12: Dry your feet with a clean towel and put a moisturizer. Repeat this process for a few days to get proper results.
Common home remedies
Apart from the above the processes there are some other ingredients available in our day to day life which can be used to for removing the dead skin from feet.
- Lemon juice- 1tsp
- Brown sugar- 2tbsp
- Olive oil- 1tbsp
- Honey- 1tbsp
- Bath tub half filled with Luke warm water
Step 1: In a bowl mix all the above mentioned ingredients one by one till they form a smooth, thick, sticky paste.
Step 2: Now soak your feet in clean Luke warm water for 10-15 minutes so that your feet are free from the excess dust particles and are smooth and clean.
Step 3: Keeping your feet dipped in the water put the paste on your feet and scrub it gently with your fingers in a circular motion.
Step 4: Finally rinse your feet with clean water to get smooth feet.
Repeat this process for a week to get better result. This scrub not only nourishes the dry skin but also removes the dead skin from feet.
There are many other methods which can be used to remove the dead skin from our feet and to also nourish it.
The above mentioned methods are the most common ones which can be used on a regular basis to get better results. They are also handy and easy to use.
