How to painlessly take care of your skin if you put on makeup often

Spread the love

Makeup is a very popular topic that has a wide range of opinions.

Some prefer doing makeup as often they can, some prefer presenting a made-up look only on special occasions, while others are totally against the made-up look.

If you are a person who puts on makeup either too often or on occasions, read this post to find out how to take care of your skin with makeup on and off!

Let’s get started.

#1 Do not touch your face often

We all most likely have the habit of touching our face often.

Be it for wiping, or scratching, or placing our face over our palm, or for checking on makeup – putting your hands on your face is not a good thing.

There are numerous microbes residing in our hands that we pick up from various unclean locations.

By touching our face often, we transfer the germs to our skin. With makeup on, the chances to develop infection or a breakout is high.

And, if you use your hands directly on your skin to apply makeup, make sure you wash your hands before starting to do it.

#2 Go easy on your skin

Always dab and do soft rubbing of your makeup ingredients.

This tip applies to anything you do on your skin with your fingers.

Be it applying makeup, removing it, scrubbing or moisturizing – you must make sure you do not rub your skin vigorously.

If you rub moisturiser into your skin thinking that rubbing it vigorously only will make it go deep into your skin, then you are making a big mistake.

Dabbing is just fine. Go easy!

Many people have a bad habit of vigorously rubbing the scrub on their skin. That is not at all needed.

A gentle circular motion is all you need. And, your scrubbing will be done.

However, if you rub vigorously, you will damage your skin severely.

The same applies while removing your makeup.

You have to be very gentle.

In particular, if you are using liquid eyeliner and waterproof mascara, using an oil based makeup remover, or using coconut oil should help you gently remove the makeup.

But just make sure you don’t let coconut oil get into your eyes – that can be annoying for a few minutes 🙂

#3 Don’t forget to remove your makeup

Makeup is notorious for clogging pores. And hence most people end up having acne.

One of the most common mistakes among women who wear makeup is to go to bed with makeup ON.

Perhaps you had a very long, tiring day. And you really wanna hit the bed once you are done with your chores.

But the most important thing you must do before you hit the bed is to remove your makeup.

Never go to bed with your makeup as your skin cannot do its self healing if makeup is on.

Plus, all the chemicals will ooze through deep into your skin if you leave makeup on your skin overnight.

#4 Go natural as much as you can

If you have to put on makeup often, it is good to always choose makeup products that have natural or organic ingredients.

I know that’s not easy to get. But you can try your luck with brands that avoid the most problematic chemical stuff!

In addition, with your skin care regime, you can try to go all natural.

For instance, you can use coconut oil in place of a chemical moisturizer.

You can use homemade sunscreen, homemade moisturizer, homemade sugar scrub and so on.

This way you can give your skin a much better treatment.

#5 Give some extra care to lips and the eye area

Why? Because these are the sensitive areas in your face. And with you putting on makeup often and removing it, these areas could get badly affected.

Lips can get dry and become flaky depending on the type of lipstick you use.

So make sure you scrub your lips once in two weeks to get rid of the dry skin (you could use this sugar scrub).

And moisturize your lips with an all natural moisturizer like coconut oil.

Your eyebrows and eyelashes will suffer due to the brow pencil, eyeliner and mascara work you do while putting makeup on.

And also, while removing makeup.

Your brows and lashes could lose hair because of this and they might go thin.

So give those proper treatment by applying castor or coconut oil and nourish them.

Your eyelids and the skin in your under eye areas are very sensitive and soft.

When you apply and remove makeup often, those skin regions could go very dry, or you could even get inflammation.

To avoid this, make sure you spend 10-15 mins at the end of the day by closing your eyes and placing slices of cucumber or potato over your eyes.

This practice will also help you relax and will help you to properly wind up your day before you hit the bed.

To conclude…

I’ve seen two types of women.

  1. Those who think makeup will ruin their skin. And hence they avoid doing makeup as much as they can.
  2. Those who think makeup is everything and go overboard with it.

Personally, I think there should be a grey area in between these two extremes.

Makeup is not all bad as you think. Anything done in moderation is totally fine.

It doesn’t mean you should deny yourself any makeup just because you are afraid that makeup products could badly affect your skin.

A made up face, nice hairdo, and proper outfit will not only present you appropriately for an occasion but will also boost your self confidence.

On the other hand, don’t go overboard on makeup products.

You don’t need a bunch of creams, and shiny stuff to layer up on your skin to show yourself beautiful.

Go easy. Use the right makeup products for your skin type.

Avoid cheap products with problematic chemicals in them.

And don’t forget to follow these tips to take care of your skin appropriately.
