Effective Home Remedies for Common Cold

Of the many ailments that affect most humans, common cold is undoubtedly the most ‘common’ one.

From an infant to the elderly, there is practically nobody who hasn’t been affected by common cold one or more times.

In fact, this is one of the most commonest diseases that any person can get affected with. It is usually accompanied by runny nose, nasal congestion, headaches, cough, sore throat, etc.

Though common cold isn’t a serious disease, the discomfort and inconvenience that it causes is quite a lot.

It affects your regular life and makes you go through a hell of a time.

That is why, it is important that common cold is treated as quickly as possible and home remedies happen to be the easiest way to treat common cold.

Here are some very common remedies for common cold:

Apple Cider Vinegar

This mixture of water, vitamin C, Apple Cider Vinegar, and honey can really have a magical result on your sore throat and ease your coughing tendency.

This mixture makes sure that your body has the right PH balances, thus not allowing the viruses to survive in your body.

Pure Honey

This is another natural medicine that can surely be found in our home and can definitely prove to be useful for your sore throat.

The antimicrobial and antibacterial property of honey also helps you to suppress your cough and relives your throat a lot.

But for the honey to work well, it should be raw, unprocessed and you can only get it from a local beekeeper.

Vitamin C and D

Vitamin C is one of the important ingredients that help in improving your immunity system.

Consuming vitamin C as a supplement can reduce your sufferings due to common cold.

Vitamin C powder can be used as the supplement in this case.

But you have to consult a doctor to know how much of Vitamin C you can consume because over dosage of Vitamin C may cause stomach ache and even diarrhea.

Garlic

Garlic is one of those home ingredients which can come handy in easing your problems during common cold.

It can relive your sore throat and can be effective for those having a lot of cough as well.

Just make sure to have the garlic raw, chopped, and crushed and you will have some relief for a long time.

Having hot green tea with lemon and honey can be a good beverage to ease up your nose, and heal your sore throat.

Because of the anti-oxidant property, green tea can certainly speed up the recovery process.

Kombucha

Kombucha is a special version of black tea. That contains organic acids and other active compounds.

It has a ph-balancing and antimicrobial property that enhances the immunity system.

This tea is readily available in many medicine stores and can be consumed on a daily basis for better health and a strong immunity system.

It can effectively eliminate the virus that causes cold and can help you to detoxify fast, thus reducing sickness and increasing immunity.

Nettle leaf

Nettle leaf is one of the best herbs known to be used for healing our body.

Because nettle leaf contains huge amount minerals and vitamins, it can be used to treat cold and cough effectively.

You can use this herb with tea and not only you will have instant relief but also it will enhance your immunity.

Adopting one or more of these simple methods can help you relieve the symptoms of common cold and cure it very easily.

You can also take OTC medicines for common cold, but it would be best that you resort to these home remedies instead of gulping down meds one after the other.

If you find no relief or the cold doesn’t get cured in 3-7 days, it would be best to consult a doctor as he may be able to suggest a different course of action.
