Mor Kulambu Recipe / Mor Kuzhambu / Simple, yet yummy!

Mor kuzhambu soothes you if you have ulcer. Also if your body is heated up, you can take this kulambu to cool you down. Here's the recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Vegetable (Chow Chow, White Pumpkin, Ladies Finger, Bottle Gourd)
  • 1.5 cup Buttermilk / மோர்
  • 3-4 cup Coconut / தேங்காய்  grated or otherwise
  • 1.5 tbsp Toor Dal / துவரம் பருப்பு
  • 3/4 tbsp Cumin / சீரகம்
  • 1.5 tbsp Raw rice / அரிசி
  • 3 Green chillies /பச்சை மிளகாய்
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • Salt / உப்பு as needed

To Temper:

  • Mustard seeds / கடுகு
  • Curry Leaves / கறிவேப்பிலை
  • 2 tbsp Coconut oil / தேங்காய் எண்ணெய்

Instructions
 

Mor Kulambu Recipe

  • Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder in 1.5 cups buttermilk, mix well and keep aside.
  • Wash and soak 1.5 tablespoons each of toor dal and raw rice in little water for 10 mins.
  • Cut the vegetable of your choice and cook it in little water, with 1/2 tablespoon salt.
  • If using ladies finger, you can skip this step. You should rather fry it in 1 tablespoon coconut oil before adding it to the kulambu.
  • Grind coconut, green chillies, soaked toor dal, rice, and cumin to a paste.
  • Heat a pot and add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Add mustard seeds, and curry leaves to temper.
  • Now pour the buttermilk mixture, along with the cooked vegetable, and ground paste.
  • Add about 1 cup water to rinse the mixer jar and add to Kulambu.
  • Now add 1.5 tablespoons coriander powder and give it a good mix.
  • Check for salt and add if needed. Cover and cook until a boil.
  • Delicious Mor Kulambu is ready. Enjoy with hot rice and a fitting side dish.
