I started eating this in the Autumn of 2012 because of medical treatment that made solid foods difficult to swallow. I've always had high cholesterol and when I processed out of the Marine Corps, the Navy doc told me I'm genetically predisposed to high cholesterol. My mom and brother have been on medications for cholesterol for years, but I've been trying to stay under 200 by exercise, but no matter how much exercise, my cholesterol remained high.

I tested about 6 months after eating old fashioned oats for breakfast everyday, usually with some blueberries and banana with a sprinkle of walnuts and some Ben's Sugar Shack Maple Syrup. The first test was a surprising drop in cholesterol. For the first time in decades, I wasn't just on the brink of breaking 200. But the next test was even more amazing. After eating oats daily for more than a year, I dropped down even further. After 2 years, I'm at 147.

Now I understand that the reports about oats leave out an important element. Oats help, but I now understand that I must eat them everyday for years to get the desired results. If I didn't have medical problems, I doubt if I'd have had that much patience or discipline. However, now that I see it works, I'll continue. I think its worth it.

Oatmeal is a standby in this house. I use it often and in many ways.

Obviously, it's a fast, hot, filling, and nutritious breakfast that's easy to prepare.

I also use it sometimes for up to 1/3 of the flour in white bread, raising the fiber and whole grain content, and it lends a really nice flavor and texture to the bread.

On a regular basis, I make "oatmeal bars," which sound like cookies but are more healthy, containing large amounts of nuts, nut butter, and dried fruits. They fill up my kids, but still feel like a treat.

I love (real) oatmeal cookies, but they are something we only have about once a year, just because they get eaten so fast.

I also will use oatmeal as filler in my meatloaf, meat balls, and patties instead of bread crumbs. I just find the result preferable.

So, you can see WHY I buy oatmeal in bulk. I very much appreciate being able to place one order and get this amount at one time.

I generally like to have oatmeal for breakfast and have always purchased the standard size containers at Walmart that last about under two weeks. I enjoy the health benefits of oatmeal so I like to keep a supply through the month. When I saw this Quaker Oats product on Amazon it was quite larger than any size containers you find at your local super markets. The largest container I found at our local market is 2lbs 10oz, and has 30 servings for the whole container. The larger container from Amazon weighs 10lbs and has over 110 servings. I thought I would give it a try to see how long it will last. I've had it for 3 weeks and have only used 1/4 of the whole package. Thanks for reading.

i have a morning ritual that involves oatmeal, banana, berries, cinnamon and vanilla sugar. its a comfort food of the first order. in the past i have always gone for the cheapest oatmeal on sale. usually this did not involve quaker oats because their price was always too high. buying bulk has changed that. to me there is a noticeable difference in taste. quaker seems richer in flavor. there also seems to be less dust and broken pieces. if i could buy 50# bags of quaker oats. well worth it. as to cooking time, i find that 1 cup of oats, 1 1/4 cup of waterand a banana take 141 seconds in my microwave. i then stir it and let it sit of a minute or two.

The product is exactly as described. Ten pounds of Quaker rolled oats. If you're like me and you eat oatmeal almost every day then it's extremely convenient to have this much bought ahead of time (and to be able to reorder by simply clicking a button when you're running low).

My only complaint is that the packaging is not really convenient. The big tubes are highly preferable in this regard. This is a little annoying to keep airtight but still easily accessible in the morning when I'm half-asleep and just want a hot and steamy bowl of oatmeal.

I usually keep a few 42oz canisters from the local grocery on hand at any time, and after doing the math realized this is slightly cheaper per ounce. With prime free shipping why buy it anywhere else? Sure, some chains specializing in bulk sale might sell this much cheaper but for those of us without that option, this is the best, most cost-effective way if you eat lots of oatmeal like me! Also havn't had any issues with the actual product like other reviewers have mentioned; stuff's just fine to me.
